Overview

The Freedom Team Salute program depends upon a team of Volunteer Ambassadors

Our Freedom Team Salute Ambassadors represent our program within organizations and communities by acting as a local point of contact. Freedom Team Salute Ambassadors create opportunities to honor all Army veterans and provide Army Soldiers (Active, Guard, and Reserve) with the opportunity to recognize those who support them.

What are the eligibility requirements?
Ambassadors help recognize our Army Veterans for their service to our country and honor the influential supporters of our Army Soldiers — parents, spouses, and civilian employers. In addition, Freedom Team Salute Ambassadors have a willingness to seek out opportunities to include Freedom Team Salute in their local events. They may also have existing connections to the local Veteran/Soldier community.
What is the level of effort that will be required?
The level of effort that you put in is up to you. As an active participant, we ask you to keep in touch with the Freedom Team Salute program management staff that is located in the Washington, DC area. The program management staff is here to assist all aspects of your efforts and is eager to hear and share your success of how you are reaching out to Veterans and supporters of Soldiers in your community. Opportunities include, but are not limited to, local events, retirement ceremonies, dinners, deployments, or homecomings — wherever you can make a difference. The Freedom Team Salute program staff may also contact volunteer Ambassadors if there is an event in your local area to see if you are available to participate. You would coordinate Freedom Team Salute participation and share your experiences with the program office. Some Ambassadors coordinate 2 to 3 events per year; others coordinate 1 to 2 per month. You decide how involved you want to be!
